TrailTale

Step Back in Time with the Tiverton Heritage Walk!

Welcome to Tiverton—literally the “two-ford town,” named for its position between two rivers. These waterways shaped its destiny, powering the woollen cloth industry that, between 1500 and 1750, brought work to thousands and wealth to local merchants. The legacy of those bustling centuries can still be traced in the streets and buildings you’ll see today.

Tiverton is full of fascinating places and stories—far too many for a single walk. That’s why I’ve designed this trail to guide you to the very best highlights, giving you a true flavour of the town’s rich heritage.

This walk covers a route, which is about 2 miles long (3.2 kms), from and back to the car park. It should take you about 2 hours of mostly easy walking.

I suggest parking your car in Multi Storey car park, 2 Phoenix Ln, Tiverton EX16 6LU.
