TrailTale

Welcome to Brighton – the jewel of the south coast and a place where history, seaside charm, and vibrant culture collide. When people think of Brighton, images of sun-soaked beaches, the iconic pier, and joyful summer crowds come to mind. But there’s so much more to discover beyond the deckchairs and seafront.

Brighton has been a destination for travellers since Neolithic times, admired for its location and energy. Its popularity only grew when royalty took notice, giving rise to the stunning Royal Pavilion – a landmark that continues to impress visitors today. In fact, Brighton is now one of the UK’s top destinations, drawing in nearly half a million day-trippers each year.

This walking tour has been specially curated to give you the very best of Brighton. While there are too many sights to fit into one route, I’ve handpicked the highlights that capture the spirit of the city – from grand architecture to hidden alleyways, seaside views to cultural gems.

So lace up your walking shoes, bring your curiosity, and get ready to explore Brighton in a way that goes far beyond the guidebooks. Let’s discover the stories and secrets that make this city truly unforgettable.

This walk covers a route, which is about 4 miles long (6.4 kms), from and back to the car park. It should take you about 2 to 3 hours of mostly easy walk to complete. There is a portion of a steep ascent walking up to the St Nicholas Church.

I suggest parking your car in Brighton Train Station, Stroudley Road, Brighton BN1 4DJ.
