Cramlington Heritage Trail - Town Walk

Discover Cramlington through a walk that brings its story to life. Once a quiet farming village, the town was transformed by the rise of coal mining, as collieries replaced open fields and new communities grew around them—shaping the Cramlington we see today.

Yet, beneath this transformation, the town has held onto its village charm. As you explore, you’ll notice familiar street names, historic layouts, and landmarks—some still standing, others remembered—that reveal its past at every turn.

This walking trail guides you through Cramlington’s most historic and scenic spots, blending its industrial heritage with a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or rediscovering your hometown, it’s a wonderful way to experience the unique character of Cramlington.

This walk spans a route of about 3.3 miles (5.2 km) and should take about 2 to 3 hours to complete at a comfortable walking pace. Please note that, as the town is situated on a hillside, some sections are steep, and the route is predominantly uphill.
I suggest you park your car in the main car park next to Sainsbury’s – Manor Walks Shopping Centre, Cramlington NE23 6RT.
