Step into Huntingdon, a charming town rich in history and the birthplace of one of England’s most iconic figures, Oliver Cromwell. Situated on the ancient Roman road known as Ermine Street, now a key route between London and York, Huntingdon invites you to step back in time and explore its fascinating heritage.
Your journey includes the Cromwell Museum, the town’s most iconic attraction, where you’ll uncover the life and legacy of the Lord Protector. The historic Old Bridge and the remains of the castle, both integral to the ancient route that shaped Huntingdon’s history.
As you stroll through the town, admire the beautiful Almshouses, visit churches linked to Cromwell, and discover the stories of poet William Cowper, whose legacy is woven into the fabric of the area.
Don’t miss the serene River Great Ouse, where the picturesque mill adds a touch of rustic charm. History lovers will enjoy the replica cannon, a nod to the town’s military past.
Huntingdon offers a delightful blend of history, culture, and scenic beauty, making it the perfect destination for a day of exploration. Follow the trail and let the stories of this remarkable town come to life!
