Welcome to Norwich—often called the most complete medieval city in England. Here, history surrounds us at every step. You’ll see remnants of Roman walls and medieval fortifications, timber-framed townhouses, an impressive guildhall, and, towering above it all, one of the finest castles in the country. The magnificent cathedral, elegant gates, winding river with its period bridges, and graceful Georgian and Elizabethan houses all add to the city’s unique charm.
Of course, Norwich has far more treasures than we could possibly explore in a single walk. That’s why I’ve carefully chosen the very best highlights—so you can experience the spirit of this remarkable city in just one tour.
The walk covers a route, which is about 4.7 miles long (7.5 kms), from and back to the car park. It should take you about 3 to 4 hours of mostly easy walk to complete.
I suggest parking your car in NCP Norwich St Stephens Street, St Stephens, 12 Queens Road, Norwich, NR1 3PR.
