Discover the Historic Charm of St Neots

Welcome to St Neots—a vibrant market town with deep historical roots and a story shaped by faith, trade, and travel. Once home to two important priories, now lost to time, these religious institutions laid the foundations for the town’s growth, drawing settlers, craftsmen, and merchants to the area.

Strategically located along the Great North Way, St Neots was perfectly positioned to flourish. The road linked it to England’s major commercial centres, fuelling prosperity and transforming the town into a bustling hub of activity. In its prime, St Neots also boasted several thriving breweries—while the brewing barrels may be gone, their legacy lingers in the town’s architecture and spirit.

Today, St Neots is a charming destination where history meets modern life. Explore its lively market square, wander its historic streets, and discover the hidden stories that made this town a vital link in England’s trading network.

Join our trail and experience the fascinating past of St Neots—an ideal blend of heritage, character, and discovery. Whether you’re a history lover or a curious explorer, this walk promises to bring the town’s rich story vividly to life.

This walk covers a route, which is about 1.7 miles long (2.7 km), from and back to the car park. It should take you about 2 hours of mostly easy walk to complete.

I suggest parking your car next to the river, in Tebbutts Road Car Park, Tebbutts Road, PE19 1BA.
