Trail Tale

Bolton Borough Council

Bolton Council Deputy Leader Cllr Hilary Fairclough said: “Bolton Council and TrailTale have created a really exciting and historically rich app.
“The trails are designed for different users wanting a leisurely stroll, or an invigorating hike, while also providing both child-friendly and bicycle-friendly routes.”
Users can download the app on their smartphone and choose from ten different walks, each of which has a different theme.
Some of these concentrate on the town centre with stops at Fred Dibnah’s statue, St Peters Church and Bolton Grammar School while others go elsewhere in the town.
The app is designed to give information on the length of the walk and approximate duration, depending on how quickly users are able to walk.
The walks have been planned with people with different levels of mobility in mind, meaning that they should be accessible for people with disabilities with roads and paths identified which are easy to use for people who have assisted mobility needs.
People who can’t get out and about can also watch videos of the routes on YouTube.

Rafi Ilivitzky, Managing Director of TrailTale explains, “It has been a great experience to explore the towns of Bassetlaw. Each town has a unique story to tell and following the sites in each route is a fascinating way to visit new places, as well as reacquaint oneself with the local history.”
